I have been here more than a dozen times over the years and each experience has been impressive. The staff are competent and kind, always engaging the patrons with a smile. I can’t rave enough over the efficiency and overall good-natured atmosphere at city hall and am so thankful to live in a city that is so supportive of its residents, regardless of race.

Government building. Home to various prefectural department. The top floor is a nice space with a great view. Some nice eateries. It is quite a distance from Mito Station so you have to get a bus out to it. It was affected by the 2011 earthquake so it is best to check the official website for updates.

If you're coming here to register your residence as a foreigner, don't. This closed due to an earthquake a while ago. Copy the kanji from this location and search, and you should find the proper place a few blocks NW of Mito station.

the "replacement city hall" is right across the street to handle some things. To pay back taxes go to the office on corner of road 118. It's across from the mito church . It's also called Mito city or Town hall. I think in late 2018 this will change but as of today this is the office

水戸市役所です。
非常に近代的な最新設備の整った関東でも最も新しい部類に入る市役所ですね。
2011年3月の東日本大震災で半壊し、2016年から新庁舎の建設に着手、2018年11月に供用開始となりました。
内部は流行りの天窓彩光などを取り入れており、広々として気持ちの良い空間が広がっています。
また、一階にはコンビニがあり、大変便利です。
もちろんトイレも最新式ですよ。

外には喫煙所もあり、市民に配慮された市役所で大変素晴らしいです。
水戸市民と共に今後数十年活躍する市役所となることでしょう。

マイナンバーカードの件で行ってきました。
恥ずかしながら、水戸市役所が新しくなってはじめて中に入りました！
すごい。エスカレーターがありました！
なかなかないですよね市役所にエスカレーター
職員の対応はきちんとしていて丁寧でした。
ありがとうございました。
