I cannot speak highly enough of the service offered by Japan Bike Rentals. I hired a MT-07 and it was in perfect condition and a good choice for city, expressway and mountain riding. I was riding solo and done a few day trips out of Tokyo and the Mt Fuji area along with Shibuya on Halloween night!

I really liked the care pack you get which has all the common questions and answers and the most important thing – how to ask for the correct fuel and to fill the tank up! I have hired bikes in Europe and scooters across SE Asia and nothing comes close to the level of organisation.

I am hoping to organise another trip in the next year or 2 and spend a week or more exploring the mountains. Thanks again.

In 2023, my wife and I rented a Yamaha Tracer 900 motorcycle from JBR for 39 days and rode 4,600 km. The bike was in perfect condition—reliable and well-maintained. It was a bit small for the two of us, but I’m used to riding a BMW 1200, so that’s understandable.

What made me choose JBR in the first place was their amazing response time and professionalism. Jonathan, in particular, was incredibly helpful and made the whole experience smooth and stress-free.

Excellent bike rental service in Tokyo, very accommodating and helpful. English service. Bikes very well maintained and looked after. You can get both ETC for highways and GPS unit, loaded either with routes for you to take or points of interest to explore on your own. Easily accessible in Akasaka and very easy to get to highway to leave Tokyo.

We rented bikes for a self-guided week long tour that included spending 3 days at the MotoGP race in Motegi. The process was very easy and the staff very helpful. The bikes were in perfect shape and came equipped with ETC automated toll payment devices. We also rented a GPS unit and this is the only thing I would not recommend doing. The GPS was finicky to operate and took us down some sub optimal routes. I would highly recommend bringing a phone mount that would work on the bike and using your own phone and Google maps. Overall the rental was a great experience and we are already planning to come back.

What an amazing experience! Spot on; all the way from booking, to pick up to drop off. Bike in very good condition, I strongly recommend getting the GPS-unit. Even though I used Google Maps a lot it was very convenient with the GPS; there are hundreds of waypoints and areas of interest programmes providing very easy navigation to different attractions. I can only recommend JBR and Jonathan; I thank them for a great trip and look forward to my next rental here.

Japan Bike Rentals provided me with an excellent BMW F800R for a short tour of the Izu Peninsula. Jonathan helped me with my rental, and he was extremely helpful with answering questions I had about riding in Japan, and suggesting places to see and stay.

I carry a Garmin GPSMAP 67i, and I loaded the free maps of Japan available online, since there are no official Garmin maps available for Japan for a US unit. Be warned--the routing with this map is barely adequate, and sometimes dangerous. The map seems to not know the directions of travel on streets, and it certainly does not know time-based traffic restriction. That said, next time, I'll pay extra for the JBR's GPS unit.

Definitely choose to rent the ETC option. Fumbling with tolls on a motorcycle is no fun. Be warned that on the Izu Skyline, the ETC will not work, and you'll need to pay cash.

Overall, the entire experience was transcendental. The BMW was flawless, and the service provided by Jonathan was exactly what I was hoping for. Do not hesitate to ride in Japan, and definitely visit Japan Bike Rentals.

Bike was in top condition. Booked bike with the scenic tour package and had Jon arrange accommodation within my budgets. Very responsive via emails and provided all the information needed for a new rider on Japan's roads. I was very happy with the roads pre-planned. Lots of scenery and fun roads provided on my tour. Would definitely recommend and likely use again.
Not relating to the JBR experience but would provide some tips on the tour for first timers. Keep your physical toll tickets as some tolls seem to need it when passing at different points. I learnt this the hard way, but the toll officers were still quite easy to deal with even with little Japanese.
